Shykat stars in Sheikh Jamal’s facile victory over Khelaghar
DHAKA, March 16, 2020 (BSS)- Opener Shykat Ali struck a fluent 83 runs
knock as Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club got off to a good start in the
Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL), crushing Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan
Samity by 55 runs at BKSP-4 ground on Monday.
Shykat who smashed 10 fours and two sixes in his 79 ball-knock helped the
side put up 276-9 after which the bowlers complemented his innings by holding
Khelaghar back to 221-9 in 50-over allocation.
After Shykat set the platform up front, skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan and
experienced Nasir Hossain played the key role in helping Sheikh Jamal amass a
strong total.
Sohan smote five fours and one six to hit 58 off 67 while Nasir clattered
57 ball-57, striking two fours and four sixes.
Irfan Hossain was the most successful bowler for Khelaghar, claiming 4-43
while Khaled Ahmed and Masum Khan snared two wickets apiece.
Khelaghar was in the back foot right from the start and could never
threaten to take the game away. The only resistance came from the willow of
captain Jahurul Islam Omee who made 51 off 78, sending the ball across the
rope for five times.
Suhrawadi Shuvo, Elias Sunny and Salahuddin Shakil snapped up two wickets
apiece for Sheikh Jamal.
