Killers of Lipa murder placed remand in 3 cases
DHAKA, March 15, 2020 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed four killers of
Tarina Begum Lipa, who was killed after been thrown from rickshaw and dragged
by muggers in the capital’s Mugda area on February 29, on remand for
different terms in three cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziaur Rahman placed Rafik Hawlader, 42,
Sheikh Liton, 38, Abdul Mazid, 33, and Mijuan Miah, 29, on remand in murder,
dacoity and arms cases.
Of the four, Rafik was placed on a day remand in murder case, while Liton
and Mazid were placed on three-day remand. Liton, Mijuan and Mazid were
placed on a day remand each in dacoity case, while the three were placed on
two-day remand in arms case.
A team of the Detective Branch (DB) East Zone arrested the four on March 14
as they were getting ready to rob people in Mugda area.
On February 29, the muggers tried to snatch Lipa’s bag, dragging her down
from the rickshaw, and she succumbed to severe head injuries.
