Massive preparations for COVID-19 in Khulna

KHULNA, Mar 11, 2020 (BSS)- Khulna District Administration, Directorate
of Health Services , Civil Surgeon office and Khulna Medical College
Hospital (KMCH) have taken all-out preparations to combat the outbreak of
corona virus (COVID-19) in the district.

The authorities concerned have formed an 11-member committee to monitor
corona virus situation round the clock , create massive awareness, preventive
measures and provide treatments to corona virus patients.

The decision was taken in an awareness meeting held at the conference room
of Khulna Circuit House yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon to prevent corona
virus.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the
meeting as chief guest.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Md. Helal Hossain, the meeting was addressed,
among others, by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howlader,
Divisional Director of health services Dr. Rasheda Sultana, Director of KMCH
Dr. ATM Monjur Morshed, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sujat Ahmed, and President of
Khulna Press Club S M Nazrul Islam, also discussed the meeting.

Khulna Mayor urged all not to get confused in the rumour regarding shortage
and price hike of the masks and hand sanitizers.

He said directives have already been given to avoid public gathering or
functions.

He also urged not to spread any misleading information and fear in the
district through social media.

“No corona virus patient has so far been detected in Khulna ,” Civil Surgeon
Dr. Sujat Ahmed said, advising all not to be panicked and maintain the
health directives to remain safe from corona virus.

Director of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) KMCH ATM Monjur said 100-
bed units with adequate medical equipment and health experts have been kept
ready to face the new corona virus .

DC Helal said, leaflets with precautionary measures are being distributed to
increase awareness against corona virus while posters and banners will be
pasted in the district.

Divisional Director of DGHS Dr. Rasheda Sultana said 300, 200 and 100 beds
hospitals respectively have been kept ready in the division, district and
upazilas to keep people coming from abroad or suspected corona virus infected
patients in quarantine.

Besides, a total of 20-bed isolation units are kept ready for providing
treatments to corona virus patients, if detected,” she added.
