Bangladesh-Vietnam to work together for boosting blue economy: Rezaul

DHAKA, March 8, 2020 (BSS) – Describing the existing relations between
Bangladesh and Vietnam as excellent, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM
Rezaul Karim today said both the countries will work together to boost the
blue economy.

“The existing relation between Bangladesh and Vietnam is excellent. We are
ready to work together on the bilateral issues,” he said when Vietnam
Ambassador in Dhaka Pham Viet Chien paid a courtesy call on the minister at
the Secretariat here.

The potential sectors between the two countries can be identified primarily
by forming a joint working group, Rezaul said.

“We can export sea fish to Vietnam utilizing the potentials of blue
economy. There is also an opportunity of exporting meat. We want to work
together in this regards,” the minister said.

Chien said Bangladesh and Vietnam can work in exchanging information and
experience on fisheries and livestock sector through signing a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh’s Fisheries and Livestock Ministry and
Vietnam’s Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry.

The existing relations between the two countries can be strengthened
further through exchanging information, the ambassador added.

Secretary of the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry Rawnak Mahmud,
Additional Secretary Kazi Wasi Uddin, Joint Secretary Md Towfiqul Arif,
Director General of the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) Dr Abdul
Jabbar Sikder and President of the Bangladesh-Vietnam Chambers of Commerce
and Industry (BVCCI) SM Rahman were present at the meeting, among others.
