Historic 7 March speech is still a source of inspiration: Speakers

DHAKA, March 7, 2020 (BSS) – Speakers at a discussion said today the historic 7 March speech delivered by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is still works as a source of inspiration to the countrymen when they face any crisis.

Father of the Nation spoke for the people, who were longing for independence of the country, through the historic 7 March speech, they told a discussion organized by Awami League (AL) at Bangabandhu International Conference Center here.

With the fiery speech at a mammoth rally on this day in 1971, Bangabandhu called upon the freedom-loving Bangalis to wage a decisive struggle against the occupied Pakistani rulers, they said.

AL Advisory Council Member Amir Hossen Amu said, “The 7 March speech contained the final instruction of the War of Independence …as Bangabandhu called the independence ignoring all threats of the then Pakistani rulers.”

Bangabandhu in his historic 7 March speech had demonstrated the freedom of the people and also gave the direction on how to achieve the freedom, said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.

It was also addressed, among others, by AL presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Mohammad Nasim and Col. (retd) Faruque Khan, former chairman of University Grant Commission Prof Dr Abdul Mannan, Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, Joint General Secretary and Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, AL central committee member Parvin Jaman Kalpana, Dhaka City South Awami League president Abu Ahmed Mannafi and Dhaka City North Awami League General Secretary MA Mannan Kochi.
