Preparations afoot to celebrate Women’s Day in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Mar 7, 2020 (BSS) – Different government and non-governmental
organisations have completed all out preparations to celebrate the
International Women’s Day -2020 through day-long programmes in the city as
elsewhere in the district tomorrow.

The district administration sources said the day will be celebrated the day
with basic objective for ending gender disparity, repression and violence
against women and ensuring their equal emancipation in all development
activities for their empowerment.

The district and upazila administrations, District Information Office,
Department of Women Affairs, Department of Social Services, Shishu Academy,
Jatiya Mahila Sangstha and other organisations have chalked out elaborate
programmes to celebrate the day.

Non-governmental organisations (NGOs), including Begum Rokeya Forum, Eco
Social Development Organisation, RDRS Bangladesh, ‘Pollishree’, BRAC,
‘Karmojibi Nari’, ‘Amrai Pari Paribarik Nirjaton Protirodh Jyote’, women and
human rights organisations and educational institutions among others will
celebrate the day.

The celebration will herald with formation of human chains and bringing out
of rallies and processions with participation of women, girls, adolescents,
students, officials, socio cultural, human rights and NGO activists followed
by discussions and cultural functions.

The district administration in collaboration with other government and non-
government development organisations will organise the main discussion at
Town Hall auditorium in the city.
