BD mission in Delhi observes historic 7th March

DHAKA, March 7, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi today held a discussion meeting and paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to highlight the significance of his historic 7th March speech that inspired and prepared the Bengalees to successfully fight for their nation’s independence in 1971.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran led the members of the mission to place a floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the chancery building, said a press release.

He also presided over a discussion meeting underlining the significance of Bangabandhu’s 18-minute speech that was recognized as the memory of the world register by UNESCO in 2017.

He said the historic speech, delivered extempore before a sea of crowd at then-Race Course Maidan (now Suhrawardy Udyan) in Dhaka will remain ever inspiring for the people of Bangladesh as they work hard, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina , to build happy and prosperous “Sonar Bangla” as dreamt by the Father of the Nation.

Deputy High Commissioner A.T.M Rokebul Haque readout the 7th March message from President Abdul Hamid, while the message from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was readout by Commerce Counsellor Dr.A.K.M Atiqul Haque.

First Secretary Zakir Ahmed recited Nirmalendu Goon’s poem “Swadhinata, Ei Shabdati Kivabe Amader Holo” at the meeting while Press Minister Farid Hossain was the keynote speaker.
