KHULNA, March 6, 2020(BSS)- Mayor of Khulna city Talukder Abdul Khaleque has said there is no alternative to sports for freeing the country from drugs and save the society from moral erosion.
“The students should concentrate on sports as well as studies to stay away from drug addiction, militancy, terrorism and social media addition for their physical and mental tranquility and development to flourish latent talent,” he said.
He said this while addressing the launching ceremony of the Annual Sports Competitions-2020 of Govt. B L College (BL) in the city as the chief guest on Thursday.
The authority of the college organised the sports competitions for students followed by prize giving ceremony.
Principal of BL College Professor KM Alamgir Hossain presided over the function while Vice-principal Professor Sharif Atikuzzaman, Professor Samir Kumar Dey, among others, spoke.
Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated the sports competitions by hoisting of the national flag and releasing balloons, festoons amid huge festivity.
Later, students of the educational institution displayed colourful march- past and physical exercise.
The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of different sports events in the prize giving ceremony.
