Passenger held with 3 kg gold at Dhaka airport
DHAKA, Mar 05, 2020 (BSS) – A team of Dhaka Customs House Preventive Unit
detained a man from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital and
seized about 3kg of gold from his possession on Wednesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Sheikh Sadi.
He was a passenger of Flight MH196 which landed in Dhaka from Malaysia at
11:30pm yesterday.
“Based on secret information, members of preventive team followed him.
When he reached Green Channel area of the airport the team members challenged
him. After searching his body the officials seized the gold from his
possession,” Custom House Assistant Commissioner (Preventive) Solaiman
Hossain told BSS.
According to the official, the net worth of the seized gold is
approximately 1.50 crore taka.
A case was filed in this regard and the arrestee was handed over to Airport
Police, said the official.
