UAE embassy organises function on Mujib Borsho

DHAKA, March 5, 2020 (BSS) – The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dhaka today organized a get-together and commemoration programme as part of its series of events to celebrate “Mujib Borsho”, marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The programme with some cultural flavor of the Middle Eastern region was held at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park in Gulshan this morning, a press release said.

UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Saed Mohammed Almheiri, Deputy Head of Mission Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Walid Shamseidin, Charge d’Affaires of Embassy of the Sultanate Oman Taeeb Salim AL Aawi, Charge d’Affairs of the Libyan Embassy Rhoumah MR Yahy, head of missions and diplomats from other Arab countries and Director-General (West Asia) Md. Tarikul Islam of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and senior journalists attended the function.

The UAE ambassador paid tributes to the memory of Bangabandhu, commemorating his immense courage, strong leadership and right directions that led the nation to achieve independence in 1971.

“We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the people of Bangladesh for many great achievements and growth momentum under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said in a statement.

Mohammed Almheiri said the bilateral relations between the UAE and Bangladesh have always shared strong ties based on the principles of cooperation and mutual respect.

In his speech, Director-General (West Asia) Tarikul Islam referred to the unparallel leadership of the Father of the Nation, whom he mentioned is an iconic figure.

He expressed appreciation to the UAE Embassy as well as other representatives of the Arab states for the respect they showed to the Father of the Nation.

The participants were later served with traditional Arab dishes, the release said.
