ICT division takes ‘hundred-plus strategy’ marking ‘Mujib Year’

DHAKA, March 5, 2020 (BSS) – Information and Communication Technology
(ICT) Division has taken a ‘Hundred-plus Strategy’ to celebrate the birth
centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“As part of the celebration of Mujib Year, the ICT Division is going to
introduce the “Bangabandhu Innovation Grant 2020″ for young innovators in the
ICT sector to encourage them innovate new digital means,” State Minister for
ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak told a press conference at his office in the
city.

Along with the country’s best innovators, famous educational institutions
will be invited to take part in the competition to win the grant, he said,
adding 100 Startups will be given financial assistance in the ‘Mujib Year,’
the state minister said.

Besides, the ICT Division has set up a target to attain cent percent
success in implementation of all programmes while the officials concerned of
the division will work for extra 100 hours throughout the year to implement
the programmes, Palak said, adding 100 new citizen services will be ensured
in the year.

He also said the yearlong programmes also include – distribution of
Bangabandhu Innovation Grant 2020, holographic projection of Bangabandhu’s
Historic 7 March Speech, online celebration of the ‘Mujib Year’, organizing
skill development programmes on mobile games and applications and holding
grand rally marking the 10-year founding anniversary of the Union Digital
Centers (UDCs).

About employment situation in the ICT sector, he said 100,000 employments
will be created in the sector by 2025 in the country while additional 100,000
employments will be created per year after 2025.
