RAJSHAHI, March 4, 2020 (BSS) – Speakers at a function here unequivocally
called for raising voice against institutional corruption to free the society
from the social menace.

They mentioned that if all the community people forge social resistance
and raise their voice against corruption strongly, none can dare to commit
the crime.

The observation came at a daylong public hearing jointly organised by Anti
Corruption Commission (ACC) and Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee
(UCPC) at Godagari Upazila Parishad Hall Room in the district yesterday.

ACC secretary Dilwar Bakht addressed the meeting as the chief guest while
its divisional director Murshed Alam and deputy director Jahangir Alam spoke
as special guests with deputy commissioner Hamidul Haque in the chair.

Pourashava mayor Monirul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer Nazmul Islam
Sarker and upazila vice-chairmen Abdul Maleque and Sufiya Khatun also spoke.

Dilwar Bakht expressed a strong note of warning that no corrupt element
will go unpunished. “It’s high time to ensure all public services corruption-
free. We can’t keep an uneven path of corruption for our future generation.
We want to establish a country free from corruption,” he added.

He urged all to raise their voice against corruption unitedly to fight the
long persisting social menace effectively.

He said: “No graft suspect will be spared. All suspects will be brought to
justice. So, there’s nothing for the corrupt elements to be happy.”

He mentioned that corruption undermines economic development and increase
poverty, exploitation and injustice, prevent good governance, accountability
and transparency and create social and political instability and insecurity.

The ACC secretary laid importance on creation of awareness among the mass
people, especially the young generation, to eliminate corruption from the
society.

Concerted effort is crucially important to check bribery as it is
impossible for the ACC alone to fight corruption, he said.
