CHATTOGRAM, March 2, 2020 (BSS) – Two youths have died while another received critical burn injuries in a devastating fire that broke out at City Jahir colony of Baropool area under Halishahar thana in the city early today.
The deceased were identified as Mohon, 33, a resident of Cumilla district
and Jakir 33, hailed from Chandpur district.
The wounded Kabir Hossain is undergoing treatment at the burn unit of
Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Station Officer of Agrabad Fire Services Control Room Kafil Uddin told BSS
that the fire broke out at a house in the aforesaid colony around 1.45 am,
leaving the youths– Mohon and Jakir– dead on the spot.
Two fire fighting units from Agrabad and Halishahar fire stations rushed to
the spot and doused the fire around 4.00am. Firefighters found that two
people died in their houses as they failed to come out.
Fire Service and Civil Defence sources said the fire originated from an
electric short-circuit while the loss of the fire was estimated at Taka eight
lakh.
