Khulna BCL leader dies
KHULNA, March 2, 2020 (BSS) – A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra Leauge,
who suffered injuries in a clash over construction work of Batikata Canal
Bridge under Koyra upazila on Sunday afternoon, died on the way to Dhaka this
morning.
The deceased was identified as Hadiuzzaman Russel, 28, son of Abdus Sattar
Sana and also General Secretary of Koyra Upazila BCL unit, hailed from Baila
Harania village under Koyra upazila.
Vice-President of Khulna District BCL unit Abu Sayeed Khan confirmed his
dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Koyra Police Station Robiul Hossain told BSS that
Russel was attacked and mercilessly beaten by his cousins following an
altercation on Sunday afternoon, leaving him seriously injured.
“He was taken to Koyra Upzila Health Complex and later shifted to Khulna
Medical College Hospital (KMCH) in a critical condition,” the OC said, adding
that but this morning he succumbed to his injuries on way to Dhaka as his
condition deteriorated.
Quoting family members Sayeed Khan said there was a longstanding feud
between Russel and his cousins over establishing supremacy in the area.
Besides, police also arrested Tuhin and Milon, who were allegedly involved
in the incident, from the spot last night and they were under treatment with
Police cordoned at Koyra Upzila Health Complex, the OC said.
