National Insurance Day celebrated in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, March 1, 2020 (BSS) – National Insurance Day-2020 was celebrated in the district as elsewhere in the country for the first time in the country’s history today with a call to provide insurance services to the people with trust and confidence.

This year’s theme of the day was “Bima diboshe shopoth kori, unnoto desh gori” translated in English as “We take oath on the insurance day, to build a developed country.”

Marking the day, the district administration chalked out elaborate programmes in cooperation with Insurance development and Regulatory Authority, Bangladesh Insurance Academy and Bangladesh Insurance Forum.

In the morning, a grand rally led by deputy commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin was brought out from Gaibandha Poura Park and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the town.

Later, a discussion meeting was also held on the premises of Poura Shaheed Minar with additional deputy commissioner (General) Alamgir Kabir Saikat in the chair.

Abdul Matin addressed the function as the chief guest and general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, Abu Bakar Siddique and mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kaibr Milon spoke at the event as special guests.

Earlier, Asoad Hossain, in charge of Delta Insurance Company, made a welcome speech and said the objective of insurance is to financially guard against unpredictable life occurrences.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman joined Alpha Insurance Company on March 1 in 1960, he said, adding that his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina introduced the insurance day nationally for the first ever marking the Mujib Year.

The chief guest in his speeches said insurance is a means of protection of financial loss and all sorts of insurance helps the persons face the hard times.

He also underlined the need for ensuring providing better services to the people to make them aware about the benefits of having insurance particularly in bad times.

Later, DC Abdul Matin formally inaugurated the Insurance Fair cutting a red tape, went round the stalls set up on the poura park and talked to the stall owners as the chief guest.

A large number of people including the officials and the employees from various insurance companies participated in the programmes.
