New investment proposals coming regularly: Humayun

DHAKA, Feb 27, 2020 (BSS) – Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said new investment proposals from abroad are being received almost every day due to investment friendly environment in the country.

“New investment proposals are coming in the country regularly. Industries Ministry will implement the best investment proposals,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting on establishment of new sugar mill in the country at a hotel in the city on Wednesday night, said a press release today.

Netherlands based investment organisation’ VSS Management and Consultancy BV’ proposed the establishment of mill under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim and Chief Executive Officer of the VSS Management and Consultancy BV Cees Van Stees attended the meeting as special guests while Chairman of the Bangladesh Sugar Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) Sanat Kumar Saha presided over the meeting.

Humayun said the government is providing all sorts of effort to make state-owned sugar mills profitable. “Modernization initiatives have been taken to increase the production of sugar. Domestic and foreign investment is being called for this,” he added.

He said the government is focusing the production of diversify products in sugar mills aimed at making the mills profitable.
