Mobile Court fines BATC in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, Feb 26, 2020 (BSS)- A mobile court has fined British American
Tobacco Company (BATC) Taka one lakh on charge of violating the existing
tobacco control law in the city today.
On a tip-off, Executive Magistrate Kowshique Ahemd conducted a sudden
drive in a depot of the company at Talaimary area this afternoon and found
huge advertising materials including tool box, took kit, trade letter and
pack dispenser there.
Subsequently, the magistrate fined Mijanur Rahman, Manager of the Depot,
on the spot. Senior Health Education Officer Muhammad Shamsuzzaman, Advocacy
Officer of Association for Community Development Shariful Islam Shamim and
Programme Officer Krishna Rani Biswash were present during the drive.
Magistrate Kowshique Ahemd told journalists that such type of drive will
continue against violations of the tobacco control law in the days to come.
