Nagarbari river port construction work starts tomorrow
DHAKA, Feb 26, 2020 (BSS) – The government is going to construct a new river port having modern facilities at Nagarbari in Pabna District.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) with the cost of 513 crore 90 lakh under the Shipping Ministry will start the construction work tomorrow.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury is expected to inaugurate the river port construction work tomorrow. A target has been set to end this construction work within June 30, 2021.
Nagarbari Ghat is one of the main centers of goods distribution in many areas of Northern region of the country.
Fertilizer, Cement, Stone, Sand, Food Stuffs and others bulk stuffs are usually being loaded and unloaded at the Nagarbari Ghat.
The activities of Nagarbari Ghat had started from 1983 under Aricha River Port.
The government has taken the project for constructing modern infrastructure at Nagarbari area in Aminpur Thana of the Pabna District.
The Nagarbari project main works are including land development, dredging, jetty construct, connecting road, Steel gangway, Border wall with barbed ware, Passengers shed, depot, Port construct, Administrative Building, Visitors Bungalow, Dormitory and Pilot House construction.
