Rangpur Div in semis in Bangamata National Gold Cup Football
DHAKA, Feb 26, 2020 (BSS)- Rangpur Division as the last team to confirm
the semifinal spot of the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib National Gold
Cup Football tournament (U-17) crushing Barisal Division by 5-0 goals in the
quarterfinal held today (Wednesday) at Govt. physical education college
ground in the city’s Mohammadpur.
The winners’ led the first half by 3-0 goals.
In the day’s match, Runa opened an account for Rangpur in the beginning of
the match while Kohati doubled the lead in the 7th minute.
Swapna scored the third goal for Rangpur before the lemon break while
Kakoli and Swapna scored one goal each in the second half to confirm the
Rangpur’s triumph.
Bristy Akter of Rangpur was named the player of the match for her
impressive performance.
Earlier, Dhaka, Khulna and Chottogram divisions have confirmed their sport
of semifinal from girls’ section.
Meanwhile, both the semifinals of the Bangabandhu and Bangamata boys’ and
girls’ matches will be held tomorrow (Thursday) while the final is slated on
February 29 at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to present in the finals as the
chief guest and distribute the prizes.
