Mushfiqur hits double century as Bangladesh declares on 560-6

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2020 (BSS)-Mushfiqur Rahim struck his third double century as Bangladesh declared their first innings on 560-6 on day three of the lone cricket Test against Zimbabwe at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.

By the time when Bangladesh registered their third best Test total, Mushfiqur was unbeaten on 203 off 318, hitting 28 boundaries.

Bangladesh however took a 295-run lead, as Zimbabwe was bowled out for 265 in first innings.

The diminutive batsman reached his double century off 318 with a fierce cut past point off Ainsley Ndlovu delivery.

His highest Test score 219, which is also the best individual score by a Bangladeshi batsman came against this Zimbabwe side in 2018.

Only two Bangladeshi batsmen-Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal–hit double century in Test cricket but they didn’t do it more than once.

Skipper Mominul Haque contributed 132 runs while Nazmul Hossaon Shanto made 71. Liton Das was the other notable scorer with 53.

Ndlovu ended with figures of 2-170 while Donald Tiripano, Victor Nyauchi, Sikandar Raza and Charlton Tshuma picked up one wicket apiece for Zimbabwe.
