Sports competitions held at Govt Shishu Paribar in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, Feb 24, 2020 (BSS) – Sports competitions and cultural
function organized by Govt. Shishu Paribar (Girls) was held on its premises
of the town here today amid much festivity to inmates, officials and staff.
An inaugural function was also held on the campus of the paribar this
morning around 10am with deputy director of Department of Social Services in
the chair.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin attended the function and addressed
it as the chief guest.
Assistant director of the department Kamrul Islam, deputy superintendent
of the Paribar Tomizul Islam and senior journalist Sarker Mohammad
Shahiduzzaman addressed the function, among others while social services
officer (Registration) Mizanur Rahman Mollick was the moderator.
The speakers emphasized for involving the inmates of the paribar with
sports and other co-curricular activities including music, dance and reciting
poems to make them physically fit and flourish their hidden merits.
DC Abdul Matin said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
took various initiatives to bring the inmates of the Govt. Shsshu Paribars
under mainstream of the development through providing them with facilities.
The DC asked the inmates to study seriously side by side with conducting
co-curricular activities to be worthy citizens of the country to lead the
nation towards development.
Many of the orphans who were residing at the orphanages had become
famous and popular persons in the world showing their best performance in
various sectors, the DC added.
Later, DC Abdul Matin formally inaugurated the sports competitions
through igniting a torch as the chief guest.
In the afternoon, the inmates rendered songs and performed dances in the
cultural function.
