Whip Gini opens flood control embankment’s rehabilitation works
GAIBANDHA, Feb 24, 2020 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangshad Whip Mahabub Ara Begum
Gini inaugurated the rehabilitation works of flood control embankments of
Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) at New Bridge Road area here on
Sunday afternoon.
In her speeches as the chief guest at that time she underscored the need
for performing the rehabilitation work of flood control embankments properly
to check damages by the floods.
“The embankments having been become weak in many areas last year, its many
parts were washed away due to the pressure of the flood water, creating
untold sufferings of the people of the district,” she said.
The whip urged the officials and the employees of the BWDB to supervise the
works properly and also instructed the contractors of the board to finish the
works timely.
She formally inaugurated the rehabilitation works of the embankment from
New Bridge Road to Dashani, New Bridge Road to Bheramara Bridge, and Baguria
to Balashighat.

including journalists were present on the occasion.
Talking to the BSS, Mokhlasur Rahman said the BWDB is implementing the
works at the cost of TK 10.50 crore and it is expected to be finished by June
30 next.
