DHAKA, Feb 23, 2020 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has directed
respective candidates of Dhaka-10 by polls, scheduled for March 21, not to
use laminated posters for electioneering.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda came with this instruction
after holding a view-exchange meeting with the by-polls candidates at the
Election Training Institute (ETI) Agargaon here today.

“The Dhaka-10 by-polls candidates are not allowed to display their posters
in anywhere except 21 places designated by the EC and the laminated posters
are not allowed during the election campaign,” he said during the meeting.

The candidates are allowed to open an electoral office in a ward and they
are not allowed to use loudspeaker outside of the election office, said the
official.

Meanwhile, the Returning Officer has declared the nomination of six Dhaka-
10 by-polls candidates as valid.

These candidates are M Shafiul Islam Mahiuddin of the ruling Awami League,
Sheikh Rabiul Alam of BNP, Hazi Mohammad Shahjahan from Jatiya Party, Nawab
Khaja Ali Hasan Askari from Muslim League, Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury of
Bangladesh Congress and Abdur Rahim from Progotishil Ganotantrik Dal (PDP).

The last day for withdrawal of the candidacy has been fixed on February
29.

The Dhaka 10 fell vacant as Awami League MP Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh
resigned on December 29 to contest the Dhaka South City Corporation election.
