Govt gives special attention to students with disabilities: Tipu Munshi

RANGPUR, Feb 23, 2020 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, MP, today said the government gives special attention to the students with disabilities to turn them into human resources and improve their living standard.

“The disabled population is not at all a burden to the society and the present Awami League (AL)-led government is working for their mainstreaming through ensuring their education, health services, development, welfare and equal rights,” he said.

The minister said this while addressing a mothers’ rally at Rajbari Pakarmatha Autism and Buddhi Protibondhi Biddyalaya ground in Pirgachha upazila of the district as the chief guest.

Tipu called upon mothers of the physically and intellectually disabled children to take proper care of them as they will raise their heads one day and contribute to the nation-building activities. “Many people with disabilities are employed in different government departments and many others self-employed. They are performing excellent to become self-reliant along with contributing to the national development,” he said.

He called upon the mothers to stay away from child marriage that result in the birth of most of the disabled children.

“We must create public awareness so that no more child marriage takes place in the society and the mothers can play a crucial role toward the direction,” he said.

Chairman of the school management committee and General Secretary of Pirgachha upazila AL Abdullah Al Mahmud Milan presided over the rally participated by mothers of the physically challenged and intellectually disabled students.

Vice-president of district AL Abdul Hakim Sarder, its Organizing Secretary Kamruzzaman Chowdhury Tuhin, President of Pirgachha upazila AL Taslim Uddin and Headmaster of the school Manoranjan Barman, among others, were present.
