Programmes on Bangabandhu’s centenary birth anniversary in Rangpur
RANGPUR, Feb 23, 2020 (BSS) – The district administration at a
preparatory meeting today chalked out programmes to celebrate the centenary
birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
in the district on March 17 next.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan presided over the meeting at his
conference room to finalise the programmes.
Heads of different government departments, leaders of Awami League (AL)
and its associate bodies, activists of different socio cultural and
professional organisations and civil society members were present.
They suggested for adopting various colourful programmes marking the
centenary birth anniversary of Bangabandhu.
President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Director (Local
Government) Syed Farhad Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General)
Syed Enamul Kabir, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Shukria
Pervin, Additional District Magistrate Md. Arafat Rahman, Additional Police
Super Abu Maruf Hassan, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of Rangpur
Metropolitan Police Abdullah Al Faruk, Senior District Information Officer
Humayun Kobir, cultural personalities Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, AKM
Shahidur Rahman Bishu and Manjil Murad Lablu, among others, addressed.
The celebration will begin with 100 gun salutes followed by rendering of
the national anthem, releasing 100 pigeons and 100 balloons and placing
wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu on the Bangabandhu Square in the morning.
Later, a colourful rally with participation of government officials,
political leaders and activists, students, teachers, rovers and scouts, socio
cultural and professional activists and common people will be brought out on
the city streets from Zila School ground.
Different competitions on Bangabandhu will be arranged on Zila School
ground and improved diets will be served to inmates of different orphanages,
Shishu Paribars and children centres.
The District Information Office will play the historic March 7 speech of
Bangabandhu, and screen films and documentaries on Bangabandhu throughout the
day on March 17 next at different places.
In the afternoon, the district administration in association with
different socio cultural organisations will inaugurate a week-long Book Fair
and organise cultural function marking the centenary birth anniversary of
Bangabandhu on Zila School ground.
Besides, the district administration will screen the inauguration of the
centenary birth anniversary celebration by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on
bigger screen at Zila School ground from the capital city.
The Deputy Commissioner sought cooperation of the common people to make
celebration of the centenary birth anniversary of Bangabandhu a success in
the district.
