Zimbabwe remains watchful, reaches 80-1 at lunch

DHAKA, Feb 22, 2020 (BSS)- Visiting Zimbabwe came up with excellent
performance to reach a comfortable 80-1 at lunch on the opening day of the
one-off Test against Bangladesh at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium
here today.

Opener Prince Masvaure led the way with a watchful 45 not out while stand-
in skipper Craig Ervine played a perfect foil to him, remaining unbeaten on
26.

After opting to bat first, Zimbabwe openers Kevin Kasuza and Masvaure
started patiently and allowed Bangladesh new ball, bowlers– Abu Jayed Rahi
and Ebadot Hossain– to deliver four maiden overs.

Rahi, however, had Kasuza caught by Nayeem Hasan at gully with a perfect
outswinger for 2 but that didn’t dent the mood of Masvaure.

He got an ably support in Ervine and both of them kept them unscathed,
sharing 73-run for the unbroken second wicket stand.

Masvaure played 94 balls to hit his 45, which came with the help of seven
boundaries.

Ervine who initially looked bit shaky, gradually set him in the crease and
struck four boundaries for 62 ball-26.

Rahi had figures of 1-8 after six overs at the first interval of the day.
