DHAKA, Feb 20, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Director and Chief Editor Abul Kalam Azad today urged newsmen to work for developing a positive outlook among people through their professional tasks as the national news agency wrapped up a two-day training programme on development journalism for its correspondents.

“You will have to practice objective and responsible journalism and put in your efforts simultaneously to develop a pro-active attitude among the readers,” he told the concluding session of the workshop titled “Sheikh Hasina’s Ten Initiatives and Development Journalism”.

The workshop, held at the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) auditorium, was part of a series of an interactive training programme on development journalism for BSS district correspondents in phases with media experts and senior journalists, academics and officials appearing as resource persons.

The BSS chief editor warned that actions will be taken if anyone is found showing negligence in duties and presenting incorrect information.

Calling upon the journalists to develop reading habit, he said BSS reporters will have to submit accurate reports within the shortest possible time.

There is no scope to evade professional works and indulge in corruption in the Digital Bangladesh envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.

BSS Managing Editor Anisur Rahman, Amar Bari Amar Khamar Project’s Deputy Director (joint secretary) Najir Ahmed, City Editor Madhusudan Mondal and Channel i News Editor Mir Masrur Jaman Rony, among others, addressed the session.

BSS Special Correspondent and Focal Point Officer of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Special Ten Initiatives Programme Mahfuza Jasmine moderated the function.
