Govt to distribute school stuff free of cost: Zakir
DHAKA, Feb 20, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Primary and Mass Education
Md Zakir Hossen today said the government has taken initiatives to distribute
education support materials – shoes, dresses and bags – alongside text books
among students across the country.
The state minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a view-
exchange meeting at Baimhati Primary School playground at Mirzapur upazila in
Tangail district.
Chaired by District Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Shahidul Islam, the
meeting was addressed, among others, by Parliament Member Md Akabbar Hossain,
said a press release.
Zakir Hossen said the government is disbursing stipend among 1.37 crore
students every year under Social Safety Net Programme.
“Mid-day meal and school feeding programmes have been launched in poverty-
stricken areas with a view to decreasing dropout, increasing enrollment and
fulfilling nutrition’s requirement of school kids,” he said.
