Woman dies in Habiganj road accident
HABIGANJ, 20 Feb, 2020(BSS) – A woman was killed and three others were
severely injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and an auto
rickshaw on Nabiganj-Aushkandi road of Nabiganj upazila here today.
The victim was identified as Helena Begum, 55, a resident of Dewotoil
village under Aushkandi union.
According to locals and police, the auto rickshaw collided with an
Aushkandi-bound speedy microbus, coming from the opposite direction around
1pm, killing Helena on the spot.
The injured- victim’s husband Modarish Miah, 60, son-in-law Mizanur Rahman
and auto rickshaw driver – were rushed to Nabiganj Upazila Health Complex.
Later, the injured were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College
Hospital for better treatment.
Nabiganj Thana OC Md Azizur Rahman confirmed the incident saying, “The
injured are currently taking medication at the hospital. We were able to
seize the vehicles after reaching the spot on information.”
Filling of a case in this regard is underway, said the official.
