DHAKA, Feb 20, 2020 (BSS)- Bangladesh Navy clinched the title of Bangabandhu Shaheed Smrity Hockey competition beating Bangladesh Army by 6-3 goals in the final held on Thursday at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.
In the day’s match, Ashraful Islam scored a brace in the 7th and 54th minutes, both converting penalty corner while Mahbub Hossain, Russell Mahmud Jimmy, Moinul Islam Koushik and Abed Uddin netted one goal apiece for the
winning side 12th, 33rd, 36th and 44th minutes respectively.
On the other hand, Monoj Babu, Milon Hossain and Nayeem Uddin netted one goal each for the lossers in the 19th, 48th and 59th minutes respectively.
Moinul Islam Koushik of Navy was named the best player of the competition while Mahbub Hossain of the same team emerged as the highest scorer (six goals) of the meet.
Earlier, Bangladesh Navy moved to the final with nine points maintaining their all-win record in the competition while Bangladesh Army also confirmed their spot of final to finish behind Navy with six points.
Organised by Bangladesh Hockey Federation (NHF), a total of four services teams took part in the meet.
