Boy Scouts of America says files for bankruptcy, citing abuse lawsuits
WASHINGTON, Feb 18, 2020 (BSS/AFP) – The Boy Scouts of America filed for
bankruptcy on Tuesday in what it said was an effort to compensate members of
the youth group who had been victims of sexual abuse.
“The BSA cares deeply about all victims of abuse and sincerely apologizes
to anyone who was harmed during their time in Scouting,” chief executive
Roger Mosby said in a statement.
The organization said it would use the bankruptcy to establish a victims’
compensation trust.
