Navy move to final in Bangabandhu Shaheed Smrity Hockey meet
DHAKA, Feb 17, 2020 (BSS)- Bangladesh Navy moved to the final of the
Bangabandhu Shaheed Smrity Hockey competition with all win record when they
beat Bangladesh Army by 3-2 goals in the last group match held today (Monday)
at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.
In the day’s match, Mahbub Hossain scored a brace with a field goal in
the 18th and 52nd minutes while Moinul Islam added the another field goal in
the 44th minute for the winners.
Nayeem Uddin and Hasan Jubayer Niloy scored one goal each both came from
field goal in the 20th and 35th minutes respectively for the losers.
With the day’s win, Navy secured nine points from three matches to
finish top of the group while Bangladesh Army, despite the day’s lose, also
confirmed their spot of final to finish behind Navy with six points. The
final will be held on Thursday (February 20) at the same venue.
Earlier, in the day’s first match, Bangladesh Air Force defeated
Bangladesh Police Football Club by 4-2 goals also held at the same venue.
Organised by Bangladesh Hockey Federation (NHF), a total of four
services teams are taking part in the meet. The participating teams are
Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Police.
