Nat’l Nazrul Conference to begin Feb 22 in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, Feb 17, 2020 (BSS) – A three-day long National Nazrul Conference
will begin here on February 22 with a call to take collective initiatives to
popularize Nazrul songs and let young generations know about his life and
works to become them patriotic citizens.
Kabi Nazrul Institute (KNI), Dhaka under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs
will arrange the conference in cooperation with district administration, said
an official of the District Collectorate Building.
To make the conference, a series of programmes have been chalked out at the
directives of the institute.
The programmes include training course on Nazrul songs, reciting poems and
dance, essay writing and song competitions for the students, bestowing books
to the academic libraries, arranging documentary film show, bringing out
rally, holding discussion and seminars, prize and certificate distribution
and the arrangement of book fair.
Besides, a 3-day cultural function would be held on the premises of
Gaibandha Poura Shaheed Minar of the town here at evening on February 22, 23
and 24.
Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini is
likely to inaugurate the conference on February 22 as the chief guest, said
deputy commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin.
Earlier, a preparatory meeting to arrange the Nazrul Conference
successfully was also held at the conference room of the DC here on February
04 with DC Abdul Matin in the chair, said ADC (General) Alamgir Kabir Saikat.
A total of 5 sub-committees were also formed involving the district level
government officials, cultural personalities, public representatives, and
local elites including senior journalists, he also said.
