Menon urges to be sympathetic to orphans

GAIBANDHA, Feb 15, 2020 (BSS) – Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing
Committee on Social Welfare Ministry Rashed Khan Menon urged all to be
sympathetic to orphans, saying they could be worthy citizens of the country
if necessary opportunities and assistances are provided to them.

He said many people who once resided in the orphanage centres became
famous and popular in the world through showing their laudable and
meritorious works and kept much contribution to the nation building.

He made the comments while addressing a view exchange meeting with the
inmates of Govt. Shishu Paribar (Girl) of the town here on Friday afternoon
as the chief guest.

Emdadul Haque Pramanik, deputy director of Social Services Department,
presided over the function while acting deputy superintendent of the Govt.
Shishu Paribar M. Tomizul Islam moderated it.

Menon said the Mujib Barsho is going to be celebrated at home and abroad
this year with a view to representing the life and works of Bangabandhu to
next generation and children can know more about Bangabandhu through it.

He urged the students to be worthy citizens of the country being imbued
with the ideology of Bangabandhu and the spirit of the War of Liberation.

He also suggested the children to follow the ideals and philosophy of
Begum Rokeya who was the pioneer of women empowerment.

Later, Menon enjoyed a cultural function performed by the inmates of the
institution.

Politburo member of Workers Party of Bangladesh Aminul Islam Golap, social
services officers Mizanur Rahman, Nasir Uddin Shah, and local elites were
present on the occasion.
