Sixteen players win 1st round in women’s rating chess
DHAKA, Feb 13, 2020 (BSS) – Sixteen players won their respective first
round matches and secured full points in the Begum Laila Alam 11th FIDE
Rating Women’s Chess Tournament that began from today (Thursday) at
Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.
A total thirteen players from Dhaka and other districts, including one
woman international master, three Women’s FIDE masters and one woman
Candidate Masters are participating in the event.
The event is being held in seven round Swiss-League system and cash Prize
money will be given to the winners.
KM Shahidullah, vice president of Bangladesh Chess Federation, presided
over the opening ceremony.
WIM Rani Hamid, Wali Alam, Wazir Alam, Wasif Alam, Waqi Alam, Masudur
Rahman Maallick, and International Arbiter Haroon Or Rashid, were among
others also present in the opening ceremony.
The second round games of the event start from Saturday at same venue.
