Betar plays important role in disseminating information: speakers

RANGPUR, Feb 13, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Betar is playing a crucial role in quick dissemination of information, knowledge and messages among the common people ensuring their rights to information as a medium of mass
communication.

Officials and socio-cultural personalities expressed the opinion today at a pre-rally discussion, organised by Rangpur Kendra of Bangladesh Betar on its office premises in observance of the World Betar Day- 2020.

Later, a colourful rally with participation of the officials, employees,
technicians and artists of Rangpur Kendra of Bangladesh Betar, socio cultural
activists, professionals and civil society members was brought out and
paraded in some important city roads.

With Rangpur Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar Dr. Md. Harun-Ar-Rashid
in the chair, its Regional Engineer Shahidul Islam, and Regional News
Controller Abu Alam, cultural personalities Dr. Mofizul Islam Maantu and
Asraful Alam Al Amin addressed the occasion.

Dr. Rashid said Bangladesh Betar is playing a strong role since its
inception in making people aware of all necessary information and knowledge
to ensure their access to information.

The speakers lauded the role of Rangpur Kendra of Bangladesh Betar in
informing the people about agriculture, health, family planning, gender,
education, trade, sports, weather, natural disasters, socio-cultural and many
other important issues.

They said Bangladesh Betar has factually become the voice of the common
people as well as marginalised group living in remote areas awakening them of
their empowerment and development.

Dr. Maantu said Bangladesh Betar is playing a vital role in building
knowledge-based society, healthier culture and disseminating need- based
information timely to the local communities to help them enhancing rural
uplift and improving their lifestyle.

Asraful Alam urged the authorities of Bangladesh Betar to prepare need-
based quality programmes to contribute more to the process of building a
middle income nation by 2021 and a developed country by 2041.

Later, artistes of Rangpur Kendra of Bangladesh Betar rendered colourful
cultural programmes in a function held at the same venue in the afternoon in
presence of a huge audience.
