SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 11, 2020 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman
Ahmed said the government has a plan to give allowance to all elderly male
and female gradually in the country by 2025.
“The government has a plan to bring all, aging between 65 years and above
(male) and aging between 62 years and above (female), under the elderly
allowance in next five years,” he said while responding to a query made by
treasury bench lawmaker Mir Mostak Ahmed Rabi of Satkhira-2 in the House
here.
After coming to power, the government is increasing the beneficiaries of
the elderly allowance by 10 percent every year, the minister said, adding “A
total of 44 lakh elderly people are receiving the allowance in 2019-20.”
