Central Zone keeps them aloft after a see-saw day in BCL

DHAKA, Feb 8, 2020 (BSS)- Walton Central Zone kept them aloft over the
North Zone after a see-saw day which experienced the fall of 12 wickets in
the second round of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) game at the Sylhet
International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

At the end of the second day, Central Zone reached 187-5 in its second
innings, taking a 191-run lead over North Zone. Shuvagata Hom, the captain of
the Central Zone was batting on 28 with wicket-keeper batsman Jaker Ali, who
is yet to open his account.

After bowling North Zone out for 166, which enabled them take a slender 4
runs lead, Central Zone again tasted a top order collapse which saw them
reduced to 50-3.

Openers Mohammad Naim Sheikh (0), Marshall Ayub (11) got out cheaply while
one-down batsman Roqibul Hasan (27) failed to make his start count.

Abdul Mazid scored 69 while Taibur Rahman made 47 and together with them
they shared 89-run for the fourth wicket to help the side reach a strong
position.

Taskin Ahmed who scalped a five-for in the first innings broke though again
with the wicket of Mazid at the fag end of the day but Shuvagat Hom stayed in
crease to ensure that Central would finish the day with some advantage.

Mustafizur was the key earlier when North Zone began the day on 89-3 with
Mushfiqur Rahim in the crease. Mustafizur took the wicket of Mushfiqur,
dismissing him for just 2 to spark a collapse.

He finished with 4-68 as North Zone failed to take the lead, being
dismissed for 166 in reply of Central Zone’s first innings total of 170.
