Cabinet secretary urges officials to exchange info with people

DHAKA, Feb 8, 2020 (BSS) – Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam today called upon the government officials to come out of the traditional mentality and exchange information with people to achieve the goals of the developing country, Perspective Plan-2030 and Vision-2041.

“If we want to attain the status of a developing country and implement the Perspective Plan-2030 and Vision-2041, we have to open up ourselves coming out of the traditional mentality in exchanging the information,” he said.

The cabinet secretary said this while addressing as the chief guest a view exchange meeting with senior secretaries and secretaries of different ministries and divisions and chiefs of concerned agencies marking the ‘One Decade of Right to Information (RTI) Act’ at Officers Club in the city, said a press release.

Anwarul said the final review of Bangladesh’s graduation to the status of developing country will be held in 2021.

Presided over by Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Martuza Ahmed, the function was also addressed by Information Secretary Kamrun Nahar. Information Commissioner Suraiya Begum delivered the welcome speech at the programme.

Addressing the meeting, Martuza Ahmed termed the formulation and implementation of the RTI Act 2009 as an epoch-making incident, saying the successful implementation of the act across the country will ensure economic and social emancipation of the people, equal distribution of wealth, justice, fundamental human rights, security of basic freedom, social security and rule of law.

Expressing hope that everyone will work to reach the benefits of the RTI Act to the doorsteps of the people through extensive use of the law, the CIC said the RTI Act will be the medium of achieving the ‘Vision-2021’ and ‘Vision-2041’ and implementing the Delta Plan-2100.
