ACC to appoint intelligence officers over catching godfathers

DHAKA, Feb 6, 2020 (BSS) – Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood today said intelligence officers will be appointed in different districts to sternly deal with the godfathers and bring them under purview of law after looking into their illegal assets.

“The commission at a meeting today decided to appoint 22 intelligence officers in 22 combined district offices to make reports on illegal assets earned by godfathers and help bring them to justice,” he told journalists after a commission meeting at ACC head office at Segun Bagicha here.

The ACC chairman said the intelligence officers will submit reports to ACC head office about the godfathers of drug peddling, terrorism, land grabbing, bribery and different types of corruption.

He said the commission will examine the reports and take steps to bring the offenders under purview of law.

ACC Commissioners AFM Aminul Islam and Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan and its Secretary Md Dilwar Bakth were present in the meeting, among others.

Replying to a query, Iqbal Mahmood said those who are involved with money laundering will be brought back home through Interpol.

Later, the ACC chairman inaugurated a daycare center at the ACC head office.
