BAF, US Pacific Air Force joint exercise concludes

DHAKA, Feb 6, 2020 (BSS) – A six-day combined exercise between Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) and Pacific Air Force, the USA named “Exercise Cope South-2020” concluded today at BAF Base Bangabandhu here.

Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) of BAF Air Vice Marshal M Abul Bashar attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. Director of Air Operations Air Commodore ATM Habibur Rahman spoke on the occasion.

Two BAF C-130 transport aircraft from Bangladesh and two US C-130 aircrafts from Pacific Air Force took part in the exercise, said an ISPR press release.

Besides, enhancing humanitarian assistance capability during any natural disaster, the objective of the exercise is to ensure maximum utilization of BAF transport aircraft and develop interoperability between BAF and United States Air Force.

It may be mentioned that this exercise includes assessment of the functional suitability of various equipments with suggestion for future improvement, exchange of training and standardization of maintenance of transport aircraft.

A Total of 200 members of Bangladesh Armed Forces and 70 members of the US Air force took part in the exercise.

Among others, Brigadier General David Glenn Shoemaker, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Pacific Air Force, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii and other senior military and civil officials of US Embassy and PACAF including BAF participants and senior officers of all three services were present in the ceremony.
