Three to die for killing AL leader in Lakshmipur
LAKSHMIPUR, Feb 6, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced three people
to death and five others to life-term imprisonment for killing local
Awami League leader Mannan Bhuiyan six years back.
District and Sessions Judge Md Shahenur Rahman handed down the verdict to
Kofiluddin, Abdur Rahman and Md Joynal.
The convicts who got life-term imprisonment are Md Julfiqar, Khorshed Alam,
Easin Arafat Rafi, Md Mukter and Md Shahjalal.
According to the prosecution, local Awami League leader Mannan Bhuiyan was
called from his home at night and murdered brutally by the convicts on May
21, 2014. His wife filed a murder case accusing unidentified miscreants with
sadar police station. On June 2 in 2015, police pressed the charge sheet
accusing the eight convicts.
The court also fined the convicts Tk 10,000 each.
