DHAKA, Feb 6, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said there is no alternative to training to build knowledge-based society.

“Training is more needed in the power and energy sector. It is necessary for imparting training to all concerned in every stage of promotion in the service,” he made the statement while inaugurating a foundation course as the chief guest at Bidyut Bhaban here.

Describing engineers as brilliant, Nasrul said they should be imparted training to carry out their professional jobs.

“It is necessary to get update about Bangladesh’s development, prospective and technology, vision, fifth year plan, delta plan and constitution etc,” the state minister said.

Bangladesh Power Management Institute (BPMI) organised the first-ever training course, which began on January 6 and will continue till April 21.

A total 32 engineers from Dhaka Electricity Supply Company (DESCO) are taking part in the foundation course, while 94 officials will join the training course in three batches.

Among others, secretary of power division Dr Sultan Ahmed, rector of BPMI Mahbub-ul-Alam, board chairman of DESCO Maksuda Khatun and managing director of DESCO Brigadier General (retd) Md Shaheed Sarwar spoke on the occasion.
