Indictment order in Kalyanpur militant den casualty case on March 2

DHAKA, Feb 6, 2020 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today set March 2 to pass order on charge framing in a case filed over casualties that took place while law enforcement agency conducting raid in a militant den in capital’s Kalyanpur area in 2016.

Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal Judge Mojibur Rahman passed the order this morning after holding hearing on charge framing.

Law enforcement agencies conducted a nightlong raid on July 25, 2016, at Jahaj Building on Road-5 in Kalyanpur.

A total of nine militants were killed at the scene in the morning as they
locked in a gun battle with the law enforcers. Another militant named Regan got injured in the incident.

All of them were found to be the members of banned militant outfit neo-JMB.

Mirpur Model Police Station Inspector (operation) Md Shah Jalal Alam filed
the case against 10, two days after the operation. Investigation officer and
Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Inspector Mohammad
Jahangir Alam on April 11, 2019, filed chargesheet against 10.

The accused are– Rakibul Hasan Rigan, 21, Salah Uddin Kamran, 30, Abdur
Rouf Prodhan, 63, Aslam Hossain alias Rashed alias Abu Jarra alias Rash, 20,
Shariful Islam alias Khaled alias Solaiman, 25, Mamunur Rashid Ripon alias
Mamun, 30, Azadul Kabiraj alias heartbeat, 28, Mufti Mawlana Abul Kashem
alias Boro Hujur, 60, Abdus Sabur Khan Hasan alias Sohel Mahfuz alias
Nasrullah Haque alias Musafir alias Joy alias Kulmen, 33, and Hadisur Rahman
Sagar, 40. Of them, Azadul Kabiraj is yet to be arrested.
