Training is crucial for enhancing skill development of teachers: Nuruzzaman

RANGPUR, Feb 5, 2020 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, MP, today said training is very crucial for enhancing skill development of teachers to improve standard of education.

“The teachers should acquire knowledge on information and communication technology (ICT) alongside preparing teaching methodologies and adequate teaching skills to make lessons easily understandable to students,” he said.

The minister made the observation at a day-long views-exchange meeting cum training workshop organised by Bangladesh Open University (BOU) for teachers at its Rangpur regional centre in the city as the chief guest.

More than 400 college and university level coordinators, teachers and
tutors of different colleges and universities from Rangpur region
participated in the event.

Presided over by Vice-chancellor of BOU Professor Dr. M A Mannan, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa attended the event as the special guest.

Registrar of BOU Dr. Mohammad Shafikul Alam, its Director of the
Information and Public Relations Division Md. Abul Kasem Shikder, Rangpur Regional Director Md. Wahiduzzaman Ahmed and Director of the Students Support Services Division Dr. Anis Rahman also spoke.

The Rangpur city mayor welcomed the BOU’s initiative of enriching skills of the college and university level teachers and tutors through training in
educational activities to further improve the quality of education in Rangpur region.

The vice-chancellor said the BOU has been contributing to teaching a large number of students through distance education and playing a vital role in
improving the quality of education.
