Govt to display documentaries for Bangabandhu’s birth centenary : Hasan tells JS

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 4,2020 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the government has taken an initiative to display documentaries across the country to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The information minister said this while responding to a starred question made by treasury bench lawmaker Shamima Akhter Khanam of Women seat -21 in the House here.

Marking Bangabandhu’s birth centenary, the minister said the Department of Films and Publications is preparing documentaries on ‘Struggle, Independence and Development –From Bangabandhu to Sheikh Hasina’.

After preparation of the documentaries, he said the documentaries will be displayed at all the districts, upazilas and the educational institutions across the country on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through the Directorate of Mass Communication.

Replying to another starred question made by treasury bench lawmaker Mamtaz Begum of Manikganj-2, the Information Minister said the government is actively considering construction of modern information complex at the district level aiming to increase the press and media activities at the district level.

Under the plan, he said the government is actively considering to undertake the first phase of a project titled ‘Modern Information Complex Construction at District Level’.

At the first phase, the government is planning to build modern Information Complex in 26 districts and a upazila, he said, adding that District Information Office, Digital Multipurpose Cinema Hall, Digital Information Store, Archieve, Library, E-Library and E-cafe.
