Tamim stars of East Zone’s emphatic victory in BCL

DHAKA, Feb 3, 2020 (BSS) – After Tamim Iqbal’s triple centuries Nayeem
Hasan flared up with ball taking six wickets as East Zone registered an
innings and nine runs victory over Central Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket
League held on Monday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.

Hasan who claimed two Central Zone’s wickets on the third day, took four
more wickets today (Monday) of Mohammad Mithun (83), Taibur Rahman (62),
Shahidul Islam (17) and finally Sohrawardy Shuvo (4) to finish his spells
with 6 for 85 after Central Zone resumed their second innings on the fourth
day with overnight score at 115 for 3. Taijul Islam supported him with 2 for
82 runs.

Mohammad Mithun toiled hard with 83 runs and also shared 113 runs with
Taibur Rahman (62 retired hurt) for the fifth wicket stand to stretch the
innings but it was not enough to save the defeat as Central Zone lost wickets
in regular intervals in the face of tight bowling attacks by the East Zone
bowlers, especially Hasan and eventually dismissed at 333.

Tamim Iqbal of Central Zone was named the player of the match for his
impressive batting performance.

Earlier, East Zone, rode on Tamim Iqbal’s brilliant unbeaten knock of
334, declared their first innings at 555 for 2 after Central Zone dismissed
their first innings at 213.
