Bourses begin week in modest gain

DHAKA, Feb 2, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange
(DSE), began week today as investors have engaged in portfolio rebalancing
following the recently published earnings declarations.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4481.51 points on Sunday, first day of the
week, with a gain of 11.85 points or 0.26 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 went up slightly by
0.99 points while Shariah index, DSES declined marginally by 1.49 points to
settle at 1525.03 points and 1026.79 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 137,357 trades were executed in
today’s trading session with a trading volume of 173.51 million securities.

Gainers took a lead over losers as out of 356 issues traded, 165
securities gained price while 137 declined and 54 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were Mercantile Insurance, Pravati Insurance, Agrani
Insurance, Rising Shine, BD Auto cars, Lankabangla Finance, Metro Spinning,
Hakkani Pulp, Islami Insurance and International Leasing.

LafargeHolcim Bangladesh topped the turnover chart followed by Summit
Power, KPCL, ADN Telecom, BSC, SS steel, Paramount Textile, Grameenphone, ML
Dying and Indo-Bangla Pharma.

The top 10 losers were Shyampur Sugar, CVO PRL, Safko Spinning, Meghna
Petroleum, Gemini Sea Food, SS Steel, Stylecraft, Basundhara Paper Mills,
Prime Tex and BD Com.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also
closed at green overcoming the bearish trend of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI increased by 41.58 points and 65.01 points to stand at
8277.47 points and 13651.42 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 10,527,473 shares and mutual fund of 241 companies were
traded. Of which, 123 issues advanced while 95 declined and 23 issues
remained unchanged.
