‘Saraswati’ Puja celebrated in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Jan 30, 2020 (BSS) – The Sanaton community today celebrated
‘Saraswati’ Puja amid huge festivity with due religious fervor everywhere in
all eight districts of Rangpur division.

The Puja mandaps, mandirs and educational institutions were colorfully
decorated and thousands of devotees of all ages thronged there since the
morning to seek blessings of ‘Devi Saraswati’, the Goddess of knowledge.

Thousands of the Suntan community students of schools, colleges and
universities, attired in traditional colourful dresses, offered special
prayers and observed fasting as per ritual of the religious festival to seek
knowledge from ‘Devi Saraswati’.

In Rangpur city, colourful images of ‘Devi Saraswati’, symbolising a
graceful woman, were erected at different Puja mandaps, mandirs, educational
institutions and makeshift places for worship of the devotees.

The ‘Saraswati’ Puja was celebrated at Dharmoshava Ashram, Sammya Sangha
in Mahiganj, Laksmi Narayan Zeu Shiva Mandir, Sree Sree Paresh Nath Mandir,
Kalibari Mandir, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur Medical College, Begum
Rokeya Government College, Rangpur Technical School, Carmichael College,
Rangpur Technical Training Centre, Lions School and College, Samaj Kallyan
Biddya Bithi, Koilash Ranjan High School, Afan Ullah High School, Mahiganj
College, Government Teachers’ Training College, Zila School, Dental College
and other educational institutions.

The biggest celebrations of the Saraswati Puja were held at Rangpur
Carmichael College where thousands of students thronged since morning as
nearly 7,000 out of about 25,000 students of the institution belongs to the
Sanaton community.

The Saraswati Puja was also celebrated at Guptapara Puja Mandap, Mahiganj
Puja Mandap, Mulatol Puja Mandap, Paulpara Puja Mandap, Lalbag Puja Mandap,
Modern Mour Puja Mandap, Tazhat Puja Mandap, Boiragipara Puja Mandap,
Machuapara Puja Mandap, Kallyanpara Puja Mandap, Shalban Puja Mandap, Burima
Mandir, Rangpur Polytechnic Institute and other places in the city.

The Saraswati Puja was celebrated through offering ‘Devi Aradhona’,
‘Puspoanjoli’, ‘archanas’, ‘anjolis’, ‘aratis’, ‘Prashad’ distribution,
‘Arati competitions’ religious discussions, different competitions, cultural
functions, drama and prize distribution.

High officials of the divisional and district administrations, police
administrations, heads of different educational institutions, Acting
President of district unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad Ajoy Prasad
Babon, its General Secretary Dhiman Bhattacharya and other leaders observed
celebrations of the ‘Saraswati’ Puja at different Puja mandaps and
educational institutions.

Similar reports of celebrations of ‘Saraswati’ Puja with huge enthusiasm
have been received here from Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Gaibandha,
Lalmonirhat, Kurigram and Nilphamari districts in Rangpur division.
