BNP’s main target is to make EC controversial: Dilip Barua
DHAKA, Jan 29, 2020 (BSS) – The prime target of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is to make the Election commission (EC) controversial, not to achieve victory in the polls of Dhaka’s two city corporation slated for February 1.
General Secretary of Sammobadi Dal Dilip Barua today made the remark while talking to journalist after the meeting between 14-party alliance and EC at Nirbachon Bhaban in city’s Agargaon area.
Dilip Barua said BNP’s prime target is not to achieve victory in the city polls, but to make the EC controversial and establish the concept that no fair and free election is possible under the Awami League government.
He said BNP may spread different rumors from the evening of election day and may operate different evil activities. For this, they have already hired some outsiders to make sabotage during Dhaka city corporation elections, he added.
The world community will witness surprisingly on February 1 that the polls is held in a free, fair and peaceful manner under the government led by Sheikh Hasina and the EC, said Dilip.
“We have discussed with the EC about preparation of the city polls. We have urged the EC to strengthen security measures to avert any untoward incidents on the Election Day,” he said.
AL’s central leader Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram), central committee member Riazul Kabir Kawsar, General Secretary of Democratic party Dr Sahadat Hossen and convener of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal Rezaur Rashid Khan were also present on the occasion.
